Dr Sam completed her Doctor of Clinical Psychology and Ph.D. In Paediatric Neuropsychology at the University of Sydney. She is a University Medallist and National Medical Research Council Recipient, and works as a Clinical Psychologist, Academic, author, reviewer, and test developer.
Sam founded Joplin Clinic, a private psychology practice, and Riley Collective, a boutique consulting firm providing psychological services to individuals and organisations. Riley Collective was founded in 2021 by Dr. Sam and licensed psychologists.
At Joplin Clinic, Sam leads a team with an evidence-based approach tailored to each client’s needs. They work with clients across industries including technology, finance, law, healthcare, and education, specialising in ADHD coaching, complex trauma, complex case formulation, and psychometric testing.
Sam’s passion for advocacy, intervention, service improvement, research, and system/process enhancement drives her experience in all her professional appointments. Sam has experience working in private practice, community health, child and family services, older adults, and inpatient mental health settings. Therapeutically, her evidence-based approach formulates clients’ concerns thoughtfully and thoroughly. Her delivery is collaborative, creative, responsive, and highly individualised.
As an Operations and Strategy Consultant, Sam brings a strategic and results-focused approach, with a proven ability to develop high-performing, collaborative teams, optimise processes, and deliver cutting-edge programs enhancing the client experience through innovative and personalised solutions. She works at close quarters with leading entrepreneurs to strategise their visions through effective management, communication, emerging technologies, and scalable solutions facilitating sustainable growth.
Beyond treatment, Sam’s research expertise spans the lifespan: she engaged in trials targeting children with epilepsy in major Australian hospitals, the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, NSW Education, Prince of Wales Hospital site for Stepped Care Intervention for Older Persons, a multi-centre trial with Macquarie University, Beyond Blue, and National Medical Research Council. Her research interests include long-term memory, executive function, temporal lobe epilepsy, neuropsychological rehabilitation, lifespan development, and the publication of clinical case studies.
